The problem: a leak, and a basement nobody wanted to tear up
This Davisburg basement had a leak. Fixing it from the inside would have meant basement demolition.
Why not fix it from the inside
When a basement is finished, interior waterproofing often means tearing out walls, floors and living space to reach the base of the wall. Exterior waterproofing lets us fix the leak from the outside instead, and stop the water at the source.
How we fixed it
We waterproofed 40 linear feet of the foundation from the outside. Exterior waterproofing means we:
- Excavate along the wall down to the footing
- Clean and prep the wall
- Apply the waterproofing membrane
- Install the footing drain
- Backfill

The result
The leak was stopped at the source, and the basement didn’t need any demolition. Our workmanship on the waterproofing membrane is backed by our 25-year transferable limited warranty. The footing drain is drainage, so the warranty doesn’t cover it.
Finished basement with a leak?
Exterior waterproofing may be the option that saves your living space. It isn’t always the whole house, either: this job was 40 linear feet. Read more about interior vs exterior waterproofing, or see exterior waterproofing and excavation.
