The problem
This home had an old-school sump pump system with no sump pit basin. Water from the exterior foundation drainage system gathered in a capped 4-inch cast iron or PVC sewer pipe with a 12-inch drop, just sitting in the mud. Once that 12-inch drop filled up, an electric motor kicked on and pumped the water out. The customer wanted to upgrade to a newer system.
What we did
We installed a fully new automatic sump basin and pump in place of the old setup.
The result
The new basin and automatic pump can gather large amounts of water at once, instead of relying on a 12-inch drop of pipe sitting in the mud.
